Jeff Suskin has been living at an integrated living home through JCFS Chicago’s residential supports for the past five years. In 2019 we caught up with Jeff, who shared his love of collecting classic cars, going on walks to the pond with his twin brother Hart and the deepened confidence he felt since living independently.

In 2012, Samuel was a recent high school graduate with little work experience. Unsure of his next steps, Samuel felt nervous about his future. That’s when his Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) counselor referred Samuel to JVS Career & Employment.

They say it’s never too early to learn how to swim, save for the future or teach your children how to do their own laundry. Teaching laundry skills by measuring the detergent, sorting, folding and putting clothes away can all transfer to successful work skills later in life.

As a young adult with disabilities, Kara came to the Duman Opportunity Center looking for help starting her career. She began working with her employment specialist Allen, and expressed her passion for working with children. She guided her through every stage of the job search process, providing individualized support that helped her secure a job as a child-care assistant at a local park district.

The JCFS family of services works to strengthen the lives of over 30,000 people in the Chicago area each year.
