Carrie was working part-time as a teacher and tutor but felt ready for a new challenge. Unsure where to start, she turned to JVS Career & Employment’s Career Services.
A career counselor worked with Carrie to identify her strengths and goals. She expressed interest in exploring other career paths, so her counselor arranged informal interviews with individuals from a variety of fields. After researching opportunities and feedback from her counselor and colleagues, Carrie decided to continue working in education, but was interested in a role outside of the classroom.
With the support of her counselor, Carrie joined networking groups and began interviewing for exciting new positions. She started a full-time job coordinating continued education classes for a professional association with over 53,000 members.
“JVS was instrumental in helping me recognize my strengths and build confidence as I switched careers,” Carrie said. “All the counselors, workshops and events were very helpful. I feel my search would have been a lot tougher without the invaluable support and education provided by JVS.”
