Provides opportunities for alternative avenues of self-expression and social connection. There will be a group experience with emphasis on developing skills for emotional regulation, communication, and deepening social relationships. Girls are encouraged to use art, drama, and play to express themselves and connect with one another in a small group.

Speaking engagements for educators, caregivers and the community
Preschool Program Consultation
This program aligns with preschool and daycare schedules. During this nine-month consultation there will be a dedicated neurodevelopmental specialist (Occupational Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist) on-site to provide weekly consultation and screenings, teacher education and caregiver lunch-and-learns. JCFS Chicago also offers an early childhood mental health consultation program.
On-Site Neurodevelopmental Screenings
When Integrated Pediatric Therapies provides speech and language or motor screenings for children aged 0-5, access to a specialist will be available for the day. Each child will receive an individual screening, and the therapist will be available for consultation with staff or parents that day. A written feedback form will be provided for each screening.
Training Paraprofessionals
When a child needs extra support to thrive in a classroom, often a paraprofessional is assigned. Sometimes a little extra training is needed for that 1:1 person, and our specialists can provide this service. During a six-hour training program (more time can be requested) our specialists will meet with school staff, observe the child and paraprofessional dynamic, provide individualized suggestions, direct coaching and sample materials to the paraprofessional.

Services for People with Disabilities (SFPD) presents a free Community Education Workshop.
Join us for a virtual informational hour with Mike Walther, Certified Financial Planner, and Randi Gillespie, Director of Special Needs Services, from Oak Wealth Advisors. This presentation will focus on planning and decision-making for individuals entering adulthood. Parents and guardians will learn about Guardianship, Powers of Attorney, & Supported Decision Making. Housing, employment, transportation, & other planning challenges will also be discussed. We’ll review the essential need for a care guide or letter of intent that will document your loved one’s wishes, routines, health care needs, strengths, and challenges so that future care givers can be effective at retaining their quality of life. Handouts and a takeaway checklist will be provided to help you with the next steps.
This presentation is beneficial for families with a loved one who is in high school or has recently entered adulthood.
