Evidence-based support for children dealing with anxiety and stress
Behaviors may include:
- Difficulty separating
- Excessive worrying
- Specific fears (e.g., bugs, certain foods, storms, getting sick/hurt)
- Social anxiety
- School stress
- Obsessive/compulsive behaviors (OCD)
- Selective mutism (e.g., refusing to speak in specific places such as school despite having no trouble talking at home)
- Perfectionism
Our psychologists provide:
A complete diagnostic assessment of your child's emotional and behavioral functioning.
- Interviews with primary caregivers and older children/teens
- Developmental and cognitive assessments
- Structured observation
- Teacher questionnaires
Collaborative feedback with primary caregivers to review findings and provide recommendations, which includes a written report summarizing the diagnostic assessment that caregivers can share with school or other providers.
Treatment is designed to be a time-limited approach tailored to each family. Methods include:
- Evidenced-based Cognitive Behavior Therapies (CBT) for children, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) where appropriate
- SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions)
