Evidence-based support for children dealing with anxiety and stress

Behaviors may include: 

  • Difficulty separating
  • Excessive worrying
  • Specific fears (e.g., bugs, certain foods, storms, getting sick/hurt)
  • Social anxiety
  • School stress
  • Obsessive/compulsive behaviors (OCD)
  • Selective mutism (e.g., refusing to speak in specific places such as school despite having no trouble talking at home)
  • Perfectionism ​​​​​​​

​Our psychologists provide:

A complete diagnostic assessment of your child's emotional and behavioral functioning. 

  • Interviews with primary caregivers and older children/teens
  • Developmental and cognitive assessments
  • Structured observation
  • Teacher questionnaires

Collaborative feedback with primary caregivers to review findings and provide recommendations, which includes a written report summarizing the diagnostic assessment that caregivers can share with school or other providers. 

Treatment is designed to be a time-limited approach tailored to each family. Methods include: 

  • Evidenced-based Cognitive Behavior Therapies (CBT) for children, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) where appropriate
  • SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions)
