Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a third-wave behavioral psychotherapy that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, psychosis, and chronic pain. ACT integrates mindfulness skills with values-guided living. It helps clients develop a compassionate relationship to painful thoughts and feelings versus attempting to avoid or control them. This shift allows clients to focus instead on clarifying personal values and using that knowledge to take action that promotes a rich, meaningful life. |

Sibshops offer brothers and sisters of children with a variety of special needs a place to meet other siblings in a relaxed, supportive, and recreational setting. They discuss their common joys and concerns, learn to handle sibling-specific “sticky situations” and have fun! For kids ages 6-12 years old. WINTER 2023 Sibshops JCFS Chicago will be offering both virtual and in-person Sibshops this spring. In-person Sibshops will have a limited number of spots and masking is required. We will use outdoor spaces as weather permits. |
