In high school, Mimi was a shy, quiet freshman who was bullied.
She felt different than the other kids at her school and had low self-esteem. But after going to Response for Teens’ Operation Snowball, a three-day retreat planned and led by teens, things began to change. She immediately had an outlet to talk with others going through the same experience.
With the help of interactive workshops on diversity, leadership, healthy relationships and social justice, Snowball inspired Mimi to do some extensive self-reflection and she gained a new sense of confidence. She soon enrolled in the eight month Snowball leadership program. Now, she’s one of the most outspoken members of the group and loved and accepted by her peers.
