Liz has been involved in day and overnight camp programs as a camper, counselor, adventure trip leader, Firefly Teen and Next Step Unit Head, and is in her sixth year as the Camp Firefly Director. As an avid Camp Chi camper during her own childhood, Liz is thrilled that she can create new, memorable experiences for Firefly campers. Watching the campers develop their own love for camp is the highlight of Liz's summer!
Liz's professional background expands beyond the Camp Firefly experience. She received her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Additionally, she completed the English as a Second Language endorsement program at National Louis University and has an English as a Second Language Special Education Approval. As a speech-language pathologist, Liz has worked for over fourteen years with students who have various communication and social challenges in the school setting. Liz is a member of the organizational team for the Give for the Glow fundraiser that provides scholarships and resources for Camp Firefly campers. She also serves on the Camp Chi Alumni Committee. Liz is an avid traveler and loves to see the world's wonders. She loves to spend free time with her friends and family.
Liz was the recipient of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago's 31st annual Samuel A. Goldsmith Young Professional Award in September 2018. In 2016, Liz was named one of Chicago's "36 under 36" by the Jewish United Fund's Young Leadership Division and Oy!Chicago.
