Multi-Disciplinary Autism Spectrum Evaluations
At JCFS Chicago, our Psychological Services and Integrated Pediatric Therapies teams collaborate to lend their expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders. With the goal of providing clients with diagnostic clarification and further understanding of his or her current level of functioning, clinicians provide feedback and a written report that identifies individualized recommendations for educational or career placement, speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral interventions or counseling.
Recommendations from our team are highly specific and may also be used to advocate for a child’s educational placement or the career and vocational needs of an adult.
These comprehensive assessments typically range from 8-12 hours of testing time scheduled in the most developmentally appropriate way for a client. During each session, our experienced team interviews the client and parents/caretakers, administers standardized as well as semi-structured tests of communication, adaptive functioning, and social interaction, and direct evaluations of the client including intellectual and language testing.
We also participate in community health programs and professional groups, giving presentations on topics such as preschool attachment, understanding psychological evaluations and behavior management skills.
