Recreational Camp and Community Building for Families with Special Needs
Family Camp 2015: May 15-17
At the JCFS Glick Family Camp, parents, their children with disabilities and the whole family can enjoy a family-oriented, nature-filled camp experience – together! This camp offers fun for all ages: little ones, teens and the “big kids,” in one beautiful location within driving distance of Chicago.
Glick camp organizers work hard to ensure that everyone can relax and enjoy the experience: A family camp worker is assigned to each family. The weekend is filled with a variety of social, creative, recreational and supportive activities that, in the past, have included such fun as: nature hikes, canoeing, campfires, fishing, staff versus parents kickball game, the Glick Family Camp talent show, tie dyeing and candle-making and a parents only dinner.
What people have said about Family Camp
Glick Family Camp is where family friendships are made and community bonds are created.
“This is the place where I can be with my family without having to explain my family.”
“Thanks so much for all your work on last weekend’s family camp. As I sat at work on Monday, telling my boss the details of the weekend, I was overcome with gratitude. You cannot know how much it meant to me. My son cried during the car trip home because he missed his new friends. Thank you again for all of your dedication and determination.”
