Our education and support groups for people with disabilities cover every age, every family dynamic and a wide range of topics and challenges. 


Current Education and Support Groups for People with Disabilities and their Families

Anxiety Management and Coping Skills

This group will focus on teaching anxiety management and coping skills to people with disabilities including breathing exercises and muscle relaxation.  The group will also emphasize improving communication skills and identifying feelings and emotions to better cope with stress and anxiety.

Fee: $225 per series (scholarships are available)

Financial Literacy and Money Management

Learning to manage money is an important component to living independently.  This group will provide individuals with disabilities an opportunity to learn the basics of financial literacy including identifying the source of your income, learning banking basics, simple budgeting, and keeping your money safe.

Fee: $225 per series (scholarships are available)

Groups Galore!

For youth and adults with developmental disabilities
JCFS is able to offer a variety of groups. Each group focuses on a specific skill set, all groups emphasize developing peer relationships, practicing reciprocal conversation and learning from the experience of others. The menu of groups includes:

  • Financial Literacy/Money Management 
  • Dating Skills/Healthy Relationships
  • Anger Management
  • Building Resilience/Coping Skills
  • Speak Up For Yourself
  • Cooking Skills/Dinner Club
  • Conversation Skills and Current Events  
  • Conversation Skills and Crafts


Groups may be offered in West Rogers Park, Skokie or Northbrook depending on interest and facilitator availability. Home Based Waiver funding may be used for some groups. Adults in Transition

2nd and 4th Thursdays, 5:45 - 7:15 pm

JCFS, Skokie

A social support group for adults with disabilities who are in their 20's to mid-50's.  The group provides social support, conversation, and a safe environment to explore issues.

The Future is Now!

Time and Location TBA

A futures planning group for parents of adult children with disabilities.  This group gives caretakers the opportunity to meet and socialize with other parents while planning out the future for their loved ones with disabilities.
