Mental Health, Counseling and Therapy for Adults, Children, Couples and Families
Managing Life's Transitions and Challenges
When dealing with a life challenge, people often tell themselves that they can “manage through it” on their own. While that may be true sometimes, there are other times when self-care is simply not enough. Whether dealing with crippling anxiety, depression, parenting concern, family conflict or other life challenge, having a professional therapist to help can be a necessary step toward overcoming the challenge at hand.
Jewish Child & Family Services offers short- and long-term therapy for adults, children, couples and families, provided by masters and doctorate level clinicians at ten metropolitan Chicago locations. Relying on compassion as a key ingredient in the therapeutic process, the JCFS counseling staff promotes personal growth for its clients in response to a variety of situations.

Counseling begins with an initial assessment by a JCFS clinician who fully explores the nature of the problem that you want to address. The therapeutic goals and type of therapy are mutually established between the client(s) and the clinician, who provides the client with a comprehensive and integrated plan to guide you through the counseling process.
Billing and Insurance
JCFS accepts private health insurance and Medicare. Scholarships may also be available based on the client's ability to pay.
Connected to Community
In addition to providing direct service to clients, the JCFS counseling staff works closely with community resources such as schools, social service agencies and physician’s offices to serve clients. Sorting through community resources on your own can be overwhelming, so our clinicians help by referring clients to appropriate, available community resources, including JCFS’ comprehensive range of therapeutic, educational, and preventive programs. Consultation services for public and private early childhood education and school-based programs are available through staff with specialties in early childhood development and other areas.
Group Counseling and Therapy
In additional to individual therapy, a variety of on-going psychotherapy groups are available to individuals who are interested in exploring and working on their interpersonal and relationship issues. JCFS also offers education, discussion and support groups, which include (but are not limited to) such topics as social skill enhancement, conflict resolution, anger management, parenting skills, personal growth and marriage.
