Swartzberg/Zoller Residential Respite

Sometimes a young adult faces a crisis that necessitates brief but intensive support away form home. While most young adults have a family or network of friends, some are less fortunate and find their support system is inadequate or unavailable. With the Swartzberg/Zoller Residential Respite program young adults experiencing crisis live in a supportive, confidential and empowering environment.

The Residential Respite program provides the intensive support and brief case management necessary for young adults who require a confidential and empowering environment to accomplish their goals. Located in the North side Chicago neighborhood of Rogers Park, clients can reside in the encouraging facility for up to 6 months.

The program accepts referrals for adults, ages 18 to 30, who may have experienced any number of challenges, including loss of a loved one, family problems, divorce, educational difficulties, loss of employment or financial support, abuse-related circumstances or short-term recovery in the aftermath of psychiatric, substance abuse or medical hospitalization.

Clients needing our services will typically have a therapist involved prior to their placement and an established plan for transition to aftercare services. To ensure each individual’s treatment goals are met, the residence accommodates a maximum of four individuals, depending on the gender mix.

While candidates may need assistance in mastering independent living skills, others may need a short-term but stable transition from a previous social service program. Candidates’ eligibility will be reviewed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Fees for services are on an income sensitive scale.
