Navigating the Wilderness of Loss: Reframing the Spiritual Journey of Grief With Rabbi Anne Brener, LCSW

Grief is a spiritual journey through a wilderness of loss. This journey can teach us both what it means to be human and the nature of mature faith. As a Spiritual Leader and Psychotherapist, Rabbi Brener will use text study, meditation and expressive techniques to reframe the journey as a spiritual path, and view each of the stages as Sukkot, temporary and safe dwelling places along the way. Together we will traverse the landscape of loss to find hope and healing.

Rabbi Brener specializes in grief and healing and has assisted institutions throughout the world in creating communities grounded in compassion. She was a bereavement chaplain for hospice, and continues to work with rabbinical, cantorial and chaplaincy students to create caring and healing spiritual communities. Rabbi Brener’s acclaimed book “Mourning & Mitzvah” is celebrating its 25th year in publication. Her writing has appeared in many anthologies on Jewish spirituality and healing, and she is a frequent contributor to the Los Angeles Jewish Journal.

Copies of "Mourning & Mitzvah" will be available for Rabbi Brener to sign following the program.
