Parenting in an age of Media and Technology

Being a parent these days can feel like an ongoing assault from different places – the unending needs of kids, and the incessant bad news: local, national and international.  Another hurricane, bombing, or shooting.  How much exposure do your children have to this information and how do you help yourself and your children make sense of it? Explore guidelines that will help you make thoughtful decisions about helping your kids, whatever their ages, grow up in a chaotic world.

An Overnight Camp Experience

Camp Firefly provides unique life-enriching overnight camp experiences for children, teens and young adults, with Asperger’s Syndrome, Social Anxiety, Autism and other social disorders, needing more support in social situations to foster friendships and positive social interactions. Our low staff-to-camper ratios create positive summer experiences for campers, positioning them for success within a broader typical camp environment. Our overnight camps occur at JCC Camp Chi Overnight Camp in Lake Delton Wisconsin.

Giving Tuesday was launched in 2012 as a charitable counterpart to the holiday shopping extravaganzas known as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. When New York City’s 92nd Street Y created the fundraising event with the United Nations Foundation, they could only hope and dream that its impact would spread far and wide. On this sixth anniversary of Giving Tuesday, those hopes and dreams are fully realized, with more than 40,000 organizations in 70-plus countries now participating.
